WHDH was the kind of station your parents had on when you came to breakfast on a school morning in the 60s. With a mix of pop and MOR, its musical selections appeased more than they stimulated. But it was Jess Cain serving as the morning funnyman with a class and restraint that was more like  Steve Allen or Dick Cavett  than the bellicose voices of Top 40. His palpable charm carried the day for parents and youth as the day got launched. WHDH radio was located at 6 St. James Avenue in the Back Bay.
