Zen in Daily Life
A 3-Week In-Person Workshop with Philip Surette
Museum of Modern Renaissance | 3 sessions | 2 hours each
Starting in February 2026
Step into the quiet beauty of the Museum of Modern Renaissance for a three-week Zen workshop designed to help you build a steady, realistic Zazen practice—and carry it into your everyday life.
Hosted by Philip Surette, this series offers a grounded introduction to Zen training through traditional forms and practical guidance. Each session blends instruction, guided practice, and reflection, so students leave with clear tools for working with stress, distraction, and the “busy mind,” both on and off the cushion.
What you’ll experience each week
-
Traditional Recitation – Begin with sacred chants to set intention and align body and mind
-
Seated Zazen (Zen Meditation) – Learn posture, breath, and the art of stillness
-
Kinhin (Walking Meditation) – Practice mindfulness in motion with slow, deliberate steps
-
Reflections & Closing – Integrate the practice, ask questions, and clarify how to continue at home
What this workshop supports
