RIP to a Brighton Breakfast Joint

Mandy & Joe's in  Brighton Center

Sometimes it's good to see something familiar, something that was there in Dirty Old Boston and remains with us. That's Mandy & Joe's Restaurant at 328 Washington Street, Brighton Center, with us since 1948 making it eligible for Medicare and Mid-Level Social Security. Yet it's still going strong. A quick phone call found Mandy and Joe gone for the day, but the employees were still working. We took the top four available reviews from Google Local to get as representative a sample of how people feel about the place today. In all honesty we didn't find a negative word other than the need to bring cash.
From a Google User: "My family loves it. My 6 year-old granddaughter requests to eat there. Forget the Breakfast Club. This is the best diner style breakfast in Brighton. No frills, but great food and the perfect cure for a hangover
From another Google User: "This place is awesome! We had the hash and eggs and everything was cooked perfectly. They don't take debit or credit. Cash only which is inconvenient if you only have a debit card and never use your pin number in that case you could have your brother or sister run back home to get money to pay for the meal you promised to pay for. Point being. Have cash then enjoy. :)
From a Zagat User. "They are always super friendly and quick with service."
From Cecilia D. "While this diner doesn't look like much from the outside, I was totally satisfied with both the food and service. The staff were friendly and attentive and had no problem explaining some of the less common items on their menu, (i.e. the Irish breakfast and Jewish corned beef). We ordered an omelet and eggs benedict and both were very good. The prices are great but Mandy's only takes cash so hit the ATM up before you get there.
